Wedding Rug

The wedding rug or bridal rug in Siuntio St. Peter's Church is made by the local women from the Martha organisation. The rug was donated to the church in 1967. The colors of the rug are blue-green-brown.

Rug Tradition

The bridal couple was married on a wedding rug, and after the ceremony, the rug was used as a cover. The wedding rug was believed to protect and bring happiness to the newlyweds, also expressing the prosperity of the household. The tradition of using a wedding rug continues to this day, and in many parishes, you can find a wedding rug brought out during the wedding ceremony.
