Follow the journey of the baptismal font in St. Peter's Church, a symbol of spiritual renewal and connection across generations.
In 1550, Lady Hebla Siggesdotter Sparre, widow of Erik Fleming from Suitia Manor, commissioned the creation of a baptismal font in limestone for Siuntio church. The font was crafted by the stonecutter Tomas Tomasson in Reval, present-day Tallinn. The baptismal font is made of limestone in three parts. Engraved around the font is the following text:
"Eric Fleming Knight, Hebla Siggesdotter 1550"
This renaissance-style baptismal font is the latest item associated with baptism following the medieval tradition in Finland and the only one crafter in Estonia.
